Liminha began his career in the 70s as a bassist for the influential Brazilian rock band Os Mutantes, which was famous for blending traditional Brazilian styles with rock music. He also played with several other Brazilian bands and artists throughout the 70s and 80s, including Rita Lee and Gilberto Gil.
