Pius Njawé (March 4, 1957 Babouantou-June 12, 2010 Chesapeake) was a Cameroonian journalist.
Considered one of the most influential African journalists of his time, Pius Njawé was the founder of the newspaper Le Messager, which became one of the most widely read newspapers in Cameroon. He was known for his fearless reporting and outspoken critiques of the Cameroonian government. Njawé faced numerous arrests and detentions over the course of his career, including a six-month sentence in 1997 for publishing articles critical of President Paul Biya. Despite these challenges, he continued to publish Le Messager until his death in a car accident in the United States in 2010. Njawé was posthumously awarded the Freedom to Publish Prize by the International Publishers Association in 2011.
