She began her acting career in the late 1890s in the United States and appeared in over 200 films throughout her career. Chester is best known for her work in silent films and for her roles in the serials "The Black Box" and "The Diamond Queen". In addition to acting, she was also a writer and producer. Chester retired from acting in the early 1930s but continued to work in the film industry as a casting director. She was posthumously inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960.
