He is best known for his work as a heavy metal guitarist, notably as a founding member of the bands Machine Head and Soulfly. Mader has also worked as a producer and has collaborated with several prominent musicians in the rock and metal genre. He began playing guitar at a young age and formed his first band, Kill System, in the early 1990s. In 1993, he co-founded Machine Head, which would go on to become one of the most successful metal bands of the 1990s and 2000s.
