Born in Santiago, Chile, Jorge Mateos pursued his passion for acting from a young age. He started his acting career in Chile and quickly gained recognition for his performances in theater productions. In the 1960s, he moved to Mexico to further his acting career, where he became famous for his work in telenovelas and films.

Mateos starred in multiple Mexican films, including La Soldadera (1966), El Mundo de los Vampiros (1961), and Miss Universo en México (1978). He also acted in popular telenovelas such as Los Sánchez (1979) and Cuando los hijos se van (1983).

Aside from acting, Mateos was also a director and producer. He directed a number of films and television series, including La Selva de Fuego (1976) and El Rostro del Diablo (1960).
