Aleksandras Kernagis

Aleksandras Kernagis (September 9, 1911 Kavarskas-May 12, 1980 Kaunas) was a Lithuanian actor, theatre director and playwright. He had two children, Vytautas Kernagis and Rasa KernagytÄ—.

Kernagis studied acting at the State Drama and Music School in Kaunas, and later became a member of the Kaunas State Drama Theatre in 1937. He acted in many plays, including Shakespeare's Othello and Macbeth, and wrote several of his own plays, including "The Betrothed". He also directed many productions, including the popular children's play "Circle of Friends". In addition to theatre work, Kernagis appeared in several Lithuanian films, including "The Beauty Insane" and "The Colours of the Homeland". He was highly regarded for his contributions to Lithuanian theatre and was awarded the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas in 1961.
