Lautaro Murúa (December 29, 1925 Tacna-December 3, 1995 Madrid) a.k.a. Lautaro Murua was a Chilean screenwriter, film director and actor.

He began his acting career in the early 1950s, appearing in several Argentine films. However, it was in the 1960s when he gained recognition as a director and screenwriter, particularly for his work in the Argentine New Cinema movement. He directed and wrote several films, including "Los Inundados" (The Flooded) and "La Patagonia Rebelde" (Rebellion in Patagonia), which won several awards and critical acclaim. In addition to his work in the film industry, Murúa was also a prominent figure in left-wing politics, actively campaigning for workers' rights and social justice. He went into exile in Europe in the 1970s due to the military dictatorship in Chile and continued to work in the film industry until his death in 1995.
