Zheng Junli began his career in theater before transitioning to film in the 1930s. He is often regarded as one of the pioneers of Chinese cinema and is known for directing films such as "Crows and Sparrows" (1949) and "Street Angel" (1937). However, like many artists in China during that time, Zheng faced political and artistic restrictions during the Cultural Revolution and was unable to work on films.
