José Eusebio Otalora
José Eusebio Otalora (September 16, 1826 Fúquene-May 8, 1885 Tocaima) also known as Jose Eusebio Otalora was a Colombian lawyer, professor and diplomat.
Jose Eusebio Otalora was born in Fúquene, a small town located in Boyacá, Colombia. He was a distinguished lawyer who obtained his law degree from the Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario in 1847. Later, Otalora became a professor of law and was appointed as the dean of the Faculty of Law at the same university where he studied. He also served as a judge at the Supreme Court of Justice in Colombia.
As a diplomat, Otalora played a significant role in the negotiation and signing of the Treaty of Wyse, which helped to strengthen the diplomatic relationship between Ecuador and Colombia. He also served as the Colombian ambassador to Ecuador and Venezuela.
