Vlado Kristl

Vlado Kristl (January 24, 1923 Zagreb-July 7, 2004 Munich) was a Croatian film director, screenwriter, actor, film producer, cinematographer and film editor.

He is considered one of the most important figures of avant-garde film in Croatia, and his work often dealt with themes of existentialism, absurdity, and social critique. Kristl's films were known for their experimental techniques, such as the use of animation and collage, as well as their unique visual style.

Kristl studied filming in Prague before returning to Croatia to work as a filmmaker. He was a member of the controversial "Group of Seven" which was a group of artists, writers, and filmmakers who were critical of the socialist government in Yugoslavia at the time. His films often ran afoul of the government censors due to their experimental nature and political content.
