He began his career in the theater and later transitioned to film. Van Dommelen appeared in over 50 films, starting with silent films in the early 1910s and continuing into the 1930s. He was known for his ability to portray complex characters and his performances were well-received by audiences and critics alike. In addition to acting, van Dommelen was also a talented writer and he wrote several plays and scripts for films. He was married to Dutch actress Helena van Meel and they had one son together. Van Dommelen's life was tragically cut short during the Holocaust when he was taken to a concentration camp and died there in 1942.

Coen Hissink began his acting career in 1902, and over the next four decades appeared in more than 130 films. He worked closely with the film director Maurits Binger, and was a member of the theater company Het Nederlandsch Tooneel. Hissink was known for his versatility and range as an actor, and was equally comfortable in both comedic and dramatic roles. Despite his popularity, Hissink's career was cut short during World War II when he was arrested and eventually sent to the Neuengamme concentration camp, where he died in 1942. Today, Hissink is remembered as one of the most important actors of Dutch cinema's early years.
