She later moved to Europe and became a concert pianist before marrying Joseph Victor Anthony Ruston, a British banker. Together they had two children, Audrey and Ian. However, the marriage did not last and Ella later remarried an Italian psychiatrist named Andrea Dotti, with whom she had her third child, Arnoud. Ella was known for her beauty and charisma, and she was a popular figure in high society circles. She was also a humanitarian, working with UNICEF and other organizations to help children in need.
