Friedrich Akel

Friedrich Akel (September 5, 1871 Estonia-July 3, 1941 Tallinn) a.k.a. Dr. Friedrich Akel was an Estonian politician, physician and diplomat.

He was one of the founders of the Estonian Labour Party and served as the Minister of Social Affairs in the first Estonian government in 1918. Akel was also one of the signatories of the Estonian Declaration of Independence.

In addition to his political career, Akel was a respected physician who specialized in hygienics and tuberculosis treatment. He was also active in medical organizations and was the founder of the Estonian Association of Public Health.

Akel served as Estonia's ambassador to Finland from 1921 to 1923 and later to Latvia from 1925 to 1927. Despite his political and medical achievements, Akel fell foul of the Soviet authorities and was arrested and deported to Siberia in 1941 where he died soon after.

Bruno O'Ya

Bruno O'Ya (February 12, 1933 Tallinn-October 9, 2002 Tartu) a.k.a. B. Oya, Bruno Oya, Bruno Oja, Бруно Оя or Oja, Bruno was an Estonian actor.

He started his acting career at the Vanemuine Theatre in Tartu in 1961, where he worked as an actor for over 40 years. He was a versatile actor, equally at ease in dramatic and comedic roles. He was particularly noted for his roles in productions of William Shakespeare plays. His film career started in the 1960s, and he appeared in several Estonian and Soviet films. In 1992, he was awarded the Order of the Estonian Red Cross for his contribution to Estonian theatre. He remained active in the theatre until his death in 2002, and was considered by many to be one of the greatest actors of Estonian theatre.
