He started his acting career during the 1950s and became known for his roles in action and war films. He starred in several critically acclaimed movies such as 'Takbo, Vilma, Dali' and 'Batas ng .45'. Quizon, Ronnie Quizon, Dino Quizon, Freddie Quizon, Rolly Quizon, Edgar Quizon, Vandolph, Nicole Quizon, Zia Quizon, Mariquita Quizon and Rommel Quizon.
Dolphy started his career in show business during World War II as a stage performer. Aside from his acting career, Gonzales also had a successful political career. In 1971, he successfully ran for councilor in Manila's 4th district and was re-elected in 1980. He later served as the vice mayor of Manila in 1986 under Mayor Mel Lopez. Gonzales was also appointed as the director of the Philippine National Oil Company from 1989 to 1998.
