Juan Luna (October 23, 1857 Badoc-December 7, 1899 Cabanatuan) was a Filipino painter, artist and visual artist. He had two children, Andrés Luna and Bibi Luna.
Juan Luna is known for his famous painting "Spoliarium", which won a gold medal in the Exposición Nacional de Bellas Artes in Madrid in 1884. He had formal art training in Spain, where he became part of a group of Filipino expatriate artists called the "Ilustrados" who sought to advocate for Philippine independence and national identity through their art. He also created a series of historical paintings that depicted events such as the execution of Jose Rizal and the martyrdom of the Burgos priests. In addition to painting, Luna was also interested in politics and supported the Philippine Revolution against Spanish colonial rule. He died of a heart attack during the Philippine-American War while on the run from American forces, and was posthumously awarded the Philippine Order of Kalantiao in 1972 for his contributions to Philippine art and culture.
