Saima Korhonen

Saima Korhonen (March 6, 1893 Vyborg-December 29, 1983) also known as Saima Tikander was a Finnish actor.

She began her acting career at the age of 17 in Helsinki and quickly gained recognition for her stage presence and talents. She became a regular performer at the Finnish National Theatre and went on to win numerous awards throughout her career, including the highest Finnish cultural award, the Pro Finlandia Medal. In addition to her work on stage, Saima also appeared in several films, including the 1952 film "Loviisa – Niskavuoren nuori emäntä," which is considered a Finnish classic. Despite retiring from acting in 1961, Saima continued to support the arts and was a beloved figure in Finnish culture until her death in 1983.
