Khadija Gayibova

Khadija Gayibova (May 24, 1893 Tbilisi-October 27, 1938 Baku) a.k.a. Khadija Osman bey qizi Gayibova or Khadija Muftizadeh was a Georgian pianist and teacher.

Khadija Gayibova was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, which was then part of the Russian Empire. She showed an early talent for music and at the age of 12 was accepted into the Tbilisi Music School. She went on to study at the Tiflis Conservatory in Georgia, where she received her diploma in piano performance.

After completing her studies, Gayibova began a successful career as a concert pianist and made a name for herself throughout the Soviet Union. She also worked as a teacher, and many of her pupils went on to become successful musicians themselves.

In addition to her musical accomplishments, Gayibova was also involved in politics and social activism. She was a member of the Azerbaijan Women's Council and worked to improve the status of women in society. During World War II, she served as a nurse on the front lines.

However, Gayibova's life came to a tragic end during the Great Purge of the 1930s, when many people were arrested and executed for political reasons. She was arrested in 1937 on charges of being an enemy of the people and was executed the following year in Baku, Azerbaijan. Her legacy as a talented musician and dedicated activist lives on today.
