She continued to act in films, appearing in both silent and talkies. Some of her notable roles include Mrs. Schmidt in "The Jazz Singer" (1927), and Frau Hammerschlag in "Ninotchka" (1939). Lederer also worked as a dialogue coach and helped other actresses, such as Greta Garbo, master their English lines. Lederer was known for her accent and often played German or European characters in films. Despite her success in the film industry, Lederer struggled with depression and alcoholism. She passed away at the age of 64.
