Melanie Thornton rose to fame as the lead vocalist of the pop group La Bouche in the 1990s, best known for their hit single "Be My Lover." She also had success as a solo artist, with her album "Ready to Fly" reaching the top 20 in Germany in 2001. Prior to her music career, Thornton was a member of the US Army and worked as a background singer for a number of artists, including LeNoir, Snap!, and Culture Beat. Sadly, Thornton's life was tragically cut short when she died in a plane crash in Switzerland in 2001, while on her way to a performance. She was only 34 years old. Despite her short career, Thornton's powerful voice and contributions to the music industry continue to be remembered and celebrated today.
