He also worked in theater, and was a founding member of the Experimental Theatre of Athens. Dianellos was honored with several awards for his contributions to Greek cinema, including Best Actor at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. In 1978, he passed away while on a trip to the United States. He remains a beloved figure in Greek entertainment history.
