Anna Matzourani

Anna Matzourani (November 17, 2014 Athens-January 9, 1991) also known as Anna Mantzourani was a Greek actor.

Anna Matzourani began her career in 1932 in a small theater in Athens, and soon became a prominent figure in the Greek theater scene. She appeared in numerous productions, both theatrical and cinematic, including "Iakovos Kambanellis' The Return of Odysseus" and "Melpomeni-Karagiozis' O Hamenos Taftotitas."

Matzourani was known for her strong stage presence and dramatic range, winning critical acclaim for her performances. She was also a founding member of the National Theater of Greece, which opened its doors in 1932.

In addition to her work on stage, Matzourani was also involved in the Greek Resistance during World War II. She was arrested by the Gestapo in 1944 and spent several months in prison before being released.

Matzourani's legacy continues to be celebrated in Greece today, with the National Theater of Greece honoring her with a memorial plaque in the building's foyer.
