Guy Alexandre

Guy Alexandre (August 1, 1945-February 28, 2014 Port-au-Prince) was a Haitian diplomat and writer.

During his career, Guy Alexandre held positions such as Haiti's ambassador to Canada and Chief of Staff to the President of Haiti. He also served as the Secretary-General of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) and as Haiti's Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Aside from his work in diplomacy, Guy Alexandre was also a prolific writer. He authored numerous books on Haitian history, politics, and culture, including "Haiti: The Breached Citadel," which won the prestigious Grand Prix Littéraire d'Amérique. Additionally, he was a regular contributor to various international news publications, including the New York Times and Le Monde.

In recognition of his contributions to Haitian literature and culture, Guy Alexandre was awarded the Order of Merit by the Haitian government. He passed away in 2014 at the age of 68.
