He was best known for his work as a songwriter, record producer, and music arranger. Lai Sun Cheung was a prominent figure in the Cantopop scene in the 1980s and 1990s, and worked with many famous singers such as Anita Mui, Leslie Cheung, and Jacky Cheung. He was also a television host and actor, and appeared in several Hong Kong films. In addition to his entertainment career, Lai Sun Cheung was also an active participant in social and cultural activities, and served as a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
