Girish Karnad
Girish Karnad (May 19, 1938 Matheran-) also known as Girish Raghunath Karnad is an Indian film director, poet, playwright, actor, screenwriter and writer. His children are called Shalmali Radha Karnad and Raghu Amay Karnad.
Karnad was born in Matheran, British India and was educated in Karnataka and England. He studied mathematics and statistics at Karnatak University before earning a Masters degree in philosophy, political science, and economics from Oxford University. Karnad began his career in the arts with a noted playwriting debut in 1961 with "Yayati", which won him acclaim as a playwright. He went on to serve as director of the Film and Television Institute of India from 1974 to 1975, and made his directorial debut with the film "Vamsha Vriksha" in 1971. In addition to his work in film and theater, Karnad has also published several books in Kannada and English. He has won numerous awards including the Padma Shri in 1974, the Padma Bhushan in 1992, and the Jnanpith Award in 1998. Karnad was also a vocal critic of Hindu nationalism and played a key role in the resistance against the Indian government's clampdown on artistic expression. He passed away on June 10, 2019.

Shashi Kapoor began his acting career as a child artist, working in films such as Aag and Awaara. He later made his debut as a leading man in the film Dharmputra in 1961, and went on to star in several critically acclaimed films such as Jab Jab Phool Khile, Namak Halaal, Deewar, Kabhie Kabhie and Junoon.
Apart from acting, Shashi Kapoor also produced and directed a number of films. He co-founded Prithvi Theatre with his wife, Jennifer Kendal, and appeared in several stage productions as well.
