Tripti Mitra started her acting career in the late 1940s as a stage actress in Kolkata. She was one of the leading actresses of the Bengali stage and acted in many plays including "Abhigyan Shakuntalam" and "Nabanna". She later transitioned to the film industry and gained fame for her performances in iconic movies such as "Jago Hua Savera" (1959) and "Meghe Dhaka Tara" (1960).
Mitra was known for her versatility as an actress and her ability to portray a range of emotions. She received critical acclaim for her performances in movies like "Sagina Mahato" (1970) and "Bhuvan Shome" (1969). Mitra was also a recipient of the National Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film "Sagina Mahato".
