He had nine children, Biem Benyamin, Beib Habbani, Bob Benito, Beno Rahmat, Beni Pandawa, Bayi Nurhayati, Billy Sabila, Bianca Belladina and Belinda Syahadati Amri.
He died as a result of myocardial infarction.

During his career, Abbas appeared in over 100 films and worked as a film editor on numerous productions. He began his acting career in the 1950s, and quickly rose to fame as one of the most versatile actors in Indonesian cinema. Abbas was known for his ability to portray a wide range of characters, from comedic roles to serious dramas. He received critical acclaim for his performances in films such as "Mati Pucuk" and "Pengantin Remaja". In addition to his work on screen, Abbas was also a talented film editor, and was responsible for editing some of the most beloved Indonesian films of the 1960s and 1970s, including "Tiga Dara", "Asrama Dara", and "Tjoet Nja' Dhien".
