Dirk Sanders
Dirk Sanders (December 24, 1933 Bogor-July 26, 2002 Paris) a.k.a. Dick Sanders was an Indonesian film director, actor and television director. His children are called Tessa Van Hoogstraten and Leslie Tabuteau.
Born to a Dutch father and Filipino mother, Dirk Sanders began his career as an actor in the 1950s Indonesian film industry, starring in movies such as "Pasar Baru" and "Tiga Dara". He later transitioned to directing, helming films such as "Degung Sabilulungan" and "Lukisan Berdarah". In addition to his work in film, Sanders also directed a number of television programs in Indonesia.
In 1965, Sanders fled Indonesia due to political unrest and eventually settled in Paris, where he continued to work in the film industry. He directed the French film "Le Chinois" in 1988, and also worked as a scriptwriter and producer.
Aside from his professional life, Sanders was known for his romantic relationships with several notable women, including French actress Jane Birkin and Indonesian actress and singer Bing Slamet. Sanders passed away in 2002 at the age of 68.
