Yossi Banai (April 13, 1932 Jerusalem-May 11, 2006 Tel Aviv) otherwise known as Yosef Banai or יוסי בנאי was an Israeli singer, actor, performer and playwright. He had one child, Yuval Banay.

Yossi Banai was one of the pioneers of Israeli culture, and he is considered to be one of the most important figures in Israeli theater and entertainment. In his early career, he was part of the Nahal Brigade's entertainment troupe and the original cast of the Israeli military's Central Command entertainment troupe. Later on, he became a prominent actor in the Habima National Theatre in Tel Aviv, where he starred in numerous plays.

Apart from his work in theater, Banai was also known for his musical career. He collaborated with some of Israel’s most prominent musicians, such as Matti Caspi and Arik Einstein, and released several albums that became popular classics in Israeli music.

Banai was also known for his unique sense of humor and satire, which he often incorporated into his performances. He was awarded the prestigious Israel Prize in 1986 for his contributions to Israeli culture and was popularly referred to as the "People's Artist".
