Hillel Slovak

Hillel Slovak (April 13, 1962 Haifa-June 25, 1988 Hollywood) also known as Slovak, Hillel or Red Hot Chili Peppers was an Israeli musician, songwriter and guitarist.

Hillel Slovak was best known as the founding member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which he formed in Los Angeles in 1983 along with Anthony Kiedis, Flea, and Jack Irons. Slovak's guitar style was heavily influenced by funk and punk music, which helped the band establish their unique sound. He played on the band's first two albums, "The Red Hot Chili Peppers" and "Freaky Styley," before leaving the band in 1985 due to drug addiction.

Despite his departure from the band, Slovak continued to play music and record with other musicians. He also worked as a session musician for various artists and bands, including Fishbone and Thelonious Monster. Unfortunately, his drug addiction eventually led to his untimely death in 1988 at the age of 26. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2012.
