Ecaré was one of the pioneers of African cinema and helped establish the film industry in Cote d'Ivoire. He directed several acclaimed films throughout his career, including "Bal poussière," which won the prestigious Best Feature Film award at FESPACO in 1980. Ecaré was also known for his commitment to supporting young filmmakers and promoting African cinema. He was a founding member and president of the Union of Ivorian Filmmakers and Audiovisual Artists (USPA), and also served as the president of FESPACO in 1985.
