He was also a prominent voice actor, voicing characters in the Japanese dubs of foreign films such as ‘Bambi’ and ‘Fantasia’. Sugai was awarded the Best Actor award at the Blue Ribbon Awards in 1951 for his role in the film ‘Rainbow-Colored Flowers’. Sanji Hase (January 2, 1936 Tokyo-March 8, 2002 Toshima) a.k.a. Hirao Hase was a Japanese actor and voice actor. His child is Arihiro Hase.

He died as a result of lung cancer.

Sanji Hase was best known for his roles in Japanese television dramas and films. He made his acting debut in 1956 in the movie "Kedamono no Yado" and went on to appear in over 80 films throughout his career. He also lent his voice to various anime characters, including those in "Ashita no Joe" and "Mach GoGoGo".
