Abdelkader El Brazi was a prominent Islamic scholar, researcher, and author who specialized in the field of Islamic calligraphy. He was well-known for his contributions to the revival and preservation of the art of Arabic calligraphy in Morocco and throughout the Muslim world. El Brazi was a graduate of the Mohammed V University in Rabat, where he studied Arabic literature and Islamic studies. He went on to earn a PhD in Islamic calligraphy from the same university, and was known for his expertise in various styles of calligraphy, including Naskh, Thuluth, and Diwani. El Brazi authored several books on the subject, including "Islamic Calligraphy: Between Tradition and Modernity" and "The Art of Calligraphy in Morocco". In addition to his work in calligraphy, El Brazi was also a vocal advocate for human rights and social justice in Morocco.
