Julie Ege started her career as a model, winning the title of Miss Norway in 1962. She later appeared in numerous films and TV shows, both in Norway and internationally. Some of her notable films include "The Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires," "The Beast in the Cellar," and "Every Home Should Have One."

Aside from her acting career, Ege also worked as a nurse and was known for her commitment to helping others. She often volunteered her time and services to hospitals and other organizations in need.

She is best known for her popular children's book series that follows the adventures of the creative and independent young girl, "Lillebror og Knerten" (Little Brother and Twig). The series was adapted into a successful film in 2001. Vestly was also a prominent figure in Norwegian radio, hosting several programs throughout her career. In addition to her writing and broadcasting work, she was also an accomplished actor, appearing in several films and television shows. Vestly was a recipient of numerous awards throughout her life, including the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation's Honorary Award in 1990 and the King's Medal of Merit in Gold in 2000.
