She was born as Irshad Begum in Gujranwala, Punjab, Pakistan. Ragni started her career as a stage actress in the 1950s and gained immense popularity for her comic roles. She eventually made her way to the Pakistani film industry and debuted in the film "Naukar" in 1955.
