Jadwiga Smosarska

Jadwiga Smosarska (September 23, 1898 Warsaw-November 1, 1971 Warsaw) was a Polish actor.

She was born to a family of actors and began her acting career at a young age. Her breakthrough role came in 1921 when she portrayed the title character in the film "The Strong Man" directed by Henryk Szaro. Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, she appeared in numerous films, becoming one of Poland's most popular actresses.

During World War II, Smosarska and her husband went into hiding to avoid being captured by the Nazis. After the war, she continued acting and also became involved in theater direction. In addition to her work in film and theater, Smosarska was also a talented singer and recorded several songs throughout her career.

In 1949, Smosarska was awarded the Order of Polonia Restituta, one of Poland's highest honors. She continued acting until her death in 1971 at the age of 73. Today, she is remembered as one of the most iconic actresses of early Polish cinema.
