He graduated from the Moscow Art Theatre School in 1960 and started his career as a stage actor. Later, he became famous for his roles in movies such as "The Pokrovsky Gate" (1982), "The Wife of an Important Man" (1987), and "The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed" (1979). Additionally, he was a prolific voice actor, providing voices for various animated TV shows and films. He was a recipient of the People’s Artist of Russia award and was also awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland. Vasilyev's contributions to the Russian film industry and his extensive body of work in theatre and voice acting are still celebrated by fans and fellow actors today.
