Maria Maksakova Sr. was a prominent stage and film actress of her time. She graduated from the Moscow Art Theatre School in 1923 and joined the Moscow Art Theatre where she worked for over 20 years, often appearing as the lead in classical plays. She starred in many notable Soviet films during the 1930s and 1940s, including "The Return of Maxim," "Minin and Pozharsky," and "The Kuban Cossacks."
