She began her career in 1915 in the Moscow Art Theatre, and later became a well-known actress in the Soviet film industry. Orlova appeared in approximately 50 films throughout her career, including the acclaimed films "Chapaev" (1934) and "Ivan the Terrible" (1944). She was awarded the Stalin Prize for her performance in "The Kuban Cossacks" (1949). Orlova also worked as a director, with her most famous film being "The Boys" (1944), which was based on the novel by Soviet writer Boris Lavrenev.
