She also appeared on stage in numerous productions, including plays by Anton Chekhov and Aleksandr Ostrovsky. During World War II, Maretskaya toured the frontlines as part of a theatrical troupe that entertained soldiers. In addition to her acting career, Maretskaya was also a talented singer and recorded several popular songs in the 1930s and 1940s.
