Sergei Rachmaninoff was born into a musical family and started taking piano lessons at a young age. He went on to study at the Moscow Conservatory, where his teachers included Anton Arensky and Sergei Taneyev. As a pianist, Rachmaninoff was known for his large hands and dynamic playing style. He premiered many of his own compositions, including his Piano Concerto No. 3, which has since become one of his most famous works.
