Merminod was best known for his role as the beloved character "Didi" in the Swiss film "Uli the Tenant" (1941), which was directed by his brother, Leopold Lindtberg. He started his acting career in 1911 and went on to perform in both French and German language films. Merminod also worked as a stage actor and director in Switzerland and France. In addition to his acting career, he was a professor at the Lausanne Conservatory of Dramatic Arts. Merminod was honored with the Prix de la Ville de Lausanne, a cultural award given by the city of Lausanne, in 1973.

In addition to his acting work, he was also a respected theater director and served as the head of the Basel Theater from 1954 until his retirement in 1970.
