Muhsin Ertuğrul

Muhsin Ertuğrul (March 7, 1892 Istanbul-April 29, 1979 İzmir) also known as Muhsin Ertugrul, Ertuğrul Muhsin Bey, Ertugrul Musshin-Bey, Ertugrul Mousshin-Bey, Muchsin Bey Ertogroul or Ertugrul Muhsin was a Turkish film director, actor and screenwriter.

He is considered to be one of the pioneers of Turkish cinema and is credited with introducing modern theater and European-style acting techniques to Turkey. Ertuğrul began his career in theater, first as an actor and later as a director. In 1914, he founded the Talim-i Edebiyat Theatre in Istanbul, which was the first professional Turkish theater company to perform both traditional Turkish plays and Western plays.

In 1922, Ertuğrul directed his first film, "The Spy." He went on to direct 51 more films over the course of his career, many of which were adaptations of well-known Turkish plays. In addition to directing, Ertuğrul also acted in several of his own films, as well as in other Turkish films.

Ertuğrul's contributions to Turkish cinema earned him numerous honors and awards, including the title of State Artist in 1965. He passed away in 1979 at the age of 87, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire and influence Turkish cinema today.

Ayhan Işık

Ayhan Işık (May 5, 1929 İzmir-June 16, 1979 Istanbul) also known as Kral, Ayhan Isiyan or Ayhan Isik was a Turkish actor. He had one child, Serap Işık.

Ayhan Işık started his acting career on stage in the early 1950s and later transitioned to film in 1952. He quickly rose to fame in the Turkish film industry, becoming one of the most prominent actors of the time. He starred in over 200 Turkish films in his career spanning three decades.

Işık was known for his charismatic personality and his ability to adapt to a wide range of film genres, from romantic dramas to comedies and action films. He won numerous awards for his acting, including the Best Actor Award at the 5th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival in 1968.

In addition to his acting career, Işık was also a successful businessman, owning a popular nightclub in Istanbul called Ayhan Işık’s Friend’s Club. He was actively involved in politics and was known to be a vocal supporter of the center-right Justice Party.

Sadly, Ayhan Işık passed away at the age of 50 due to a heart attack. However, his legacy continues to live on as one of the most important figures in Turkish cinema history.
