Helmut Schmid (April 8, 1925 Neu-Ulm-July 18, 1992 Heiligenschwendi) a.k.a. Helmut Schmidt or Hans-Helmut Schmidt was a West German actor. His children are called Melisande Schmid and Marc-Tell Schmid.

Schmid began his acting career in 1950 after studying at both the Munich Academy of Music and Theatre and the Otto Falckenberg School. He quickly became a prolific actor, appearing in over 150 film and television productions throughout his career. Some of his most notable roles include appearances in "The Captain from Köpenick" (1956), "Derrick" (1974), and "The Old Fox" (1977-1992). In addition to his film and television work, Schmid was also a well-known theatre actor, appearing on stages across Germany throughout the 1950s and 1960s. He received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, including the German Film Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1966. Schmid passed away in 1992 at the age of 67.
