Myrna Lorrie

Myrna Lorrie (August 6, 1940 Neebing-) a.k.a. Myrna Lorraine Petrunka is a Canadian singer and presenter.

She began her career in the 1950s as a country music singer and gained popularity throughout the 1960s with hits such as "Are You Mine", "The Wedding of the Bugs" and "It's Been a Long Long Time". Lorrie also appeared on various TV shows as a performer and host, including "Country Hoedown" and "The Tommy Hunter Show". In addition to her music career, Lorrie also worked as a radio host on CBC Radio and CJCA. Over the course of her long career, she has received numerous awards and accolades, including induction into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame. Lorrie is considered one of the pioneers of country music in Canada and continues to perform today.

She was born and raised in Neebing, Ontario, and grew up in a musical family. Her father played the fiddle, while her mother played the piano and sang. Lorrie began singing at a young age and made her first appearance on a local TV show at the age of 13. She later moved to Toronto to further her music career and signed with Apex Records in 1958. Her debut single, "The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA", became a hit and she went on to record more than 20 albums over the following decades. Despite her success, Lorrie stepped away from the music industry in the 1980s to focus on her family and other interests. She made a comeback in the 1990s, releasing new music and touring across Canada. In addition to her music and radio career, Lorrie has also been recognized for her philanthropy work, including supporting organizations such as the Canadian Cancer Society and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
