Ischa Meijer was known for his controversial style of journalism and his interviews with high-profile figures from politics, literature, and the arts. He began his career as an actor in the 1960s before transitioning to journalism in the 1970s. Meijer became a household name in the Netherlands in the 1980s thanks to his radio program, "In Ischa's Persoonlijke Domein" (In Ischa's Personal Domain) and his show "I.S.C.H.A." on Dutch television. Veigel also had success on the stage, appearing in productions of "Macbeth" and "The Threepenny Opera". Despite his success, Veigel was known to be a private person and rarely gave interviews.
