Sakari Jurkka

Sakari Jurkka (September 16, 1923 Oulu-December 13, 2012 Espoo) otherwise known as Sakari Heikki Jurkka or Heikki Sakari Jurkka was a Finnish actor, film director and television director. He had two children, Timo Jurkka and Mikko Jurkka.

Jurkka began his acting career in the 1940s and quickly became a prominent figure in Finnish theatre and cinema. In addition to his acting roles, Jurkka directed several films and television programs in the 1960s and 1970s. He is perhaps best known for his role as Vatanen in the 1972 film "The Year of the Hare," which earned him a Jussi Award, the Finnish equivalent of an Oscar. Jurkka's other notable acting roles include appearances in the films "The White Reindeer" (1952) and "Time of Roses" (1969). He also directed a film adaptation of the classic Finnish play "The Forest of Hango" in 1965. Jurkka remained active in the Finnish entertainment industry until his death in 2012 at the age of 89.
