Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti

Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti (February 17, 1951 Tikrit-January 15, 2007 Baghdad) a.k.a. Barzan Ibrahim al-Hasan al-Tikriti, Barazan Ibrahim al-Tikriti, Barasan Ibrahem Alhassen or Barzan Hassan was an Iraqi official and politician. He had six children, Mohamed Barzan Ibrahim Hasan al-Tikriti, Saja Barzan Ibrahim Hasan al-Tikriti, Ali Barzan Ibrahim Hasan al-Tikriti, Noor Barzan Ibrahim Hasan al-Tikriti, Khawla Barzan Ibrahim Hasan al-Tikriti and Thoraya Barzan Ibrahim Hasan al-Tikriti.

Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti was the half-brother of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and was a leading member of the Ba'ath Party. He served as the head of Iraq's intelligence service, the Mukhabarat, and was the ambassador to the United Nations. In addition, he was involved in Iraq's weapons program and was accused of using chemical weapons against Kurds in the late 1980s.

Following the 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq, Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti went into hiding but was eventually captured by US forces in 2003. He was put on trial in 2006 for crimes against humanity, including genocide, and was found guilty and sentenced to death by hanging. His execution in 2007 was controversial, with some claiming it was carried out in a rushed and botched manner.

He died caused by hanging.
