He was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba and began playing the fiddle at the age of six. Grobb is influenced by traditional Celtic and Métis fiddle music but has also experimented with other styles such as jazz, blues and rock.
Grobb has won numerous awards, including the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championship in 2015 and the Manitoba Fiddle Association Championship in 2011, 2012, and 2013. He has also performed with many notable artists including The Chieftains, Jann Arden, and Fred Penner.
