Ramón Cáceres

Ramón Cáceres (December 15, 1866 Dominican Republic-November 19, 1911 Santo Domingo) was a Dominican personality.

He was a military officer and politician who served as the President of the Dominican Republic from 1906 until his assassination in 1911. Prior to his presidency, Cáceres served in various government positions, including Minister of War and Navy and Vice President.

Cáceres is remembered for his efforts to modernize and strengthen the Dominican military, as well as his role in negotiating a treaty with the United States that granted the country important economic and political concessions. However, his presidency was also marked by political unrest and human rights abuses, particularly against political dissidents.

Cáceres' assassination in 1911 is believed to have been the result of a conspiracy involving members of the military and political elites who opposed his policies. Despite his controversial legacy, Ramón Cáceres is remembered today as an important figure in Dominican Republic history.
