Franck Pourcel started playing music at a young age, learning to play several instruments including violin and piano. He began his career as a touring musician playing with different bands in France before forming his own orchestra in the 1950s. Among his most popular songs were "La Mer," "Only You," and "I Will Follow Him". Pourcel was known for his lush, sweeping orchestral arrangements that helped define the easy listening genre. He won several awards throughout his career including a Grand Prix du Disque award in 1959.
